Many homes in this part of Ottawa (west of Fisher, between Baseline and the Queensway) were built for veterans returning from World War 2. Construction slowed in the 1980’s which leaves most homes in the area quite a bit older than other communities.

Many row homes and apartments are found in the area, as well as some singles backing onto parkland and some new infill condos townhomes and singles sprinkled throughout. Prices in the area remain low due to the prominence of low income multifamily dwellings. However, a more affluent crowd is purchasing in the area due to its proximity to the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus, downtown and the experimental farm with its outdoors appeal.
