Stittsville is located immediately south-west of Kanata and the two are becoming closer and closer with new development. It’s about 31 km from downtown.
Since the extension of the Queensway in the 1970s made travel from Ottawa much more convenient, Stittsville has experienced rapid growth. It quickly transformed from a quiet farming area of under 500 people to a suburb of 20,000. Many residents are employed in the high-tech industry or the federal government.
Stittsville is home to several indoor hockey rinks, an indoor public pool, a library, and the Amberwood Golf and Country Club. The town has two weekly newspapers: The Stittsville News, and the EMC.
There are some new developments being constructed along Hazeldean. Further growth is expected in the near future with the development of neighborhoods such as Jackson Trails and Kanata West to the north. This will certainly add some variety to real estate options in the area.
